A round wooden platform built into a mossy tree trunk holds a small reading room. Tall shelves of colorful books line the back, with more books stacked on the floor and on a little desk below an arched window. A calico cat curls up asleep on a green armchair.

Sunlight filters through the leaves, and blue sky and distant hills show between the branches. Moss, a rope-hung ladder, a lantern and a potted flower add small details. The painterly, hand-drawn look is warm, gentle and unhurried.
