About this work
A close view of a musician's hands on an acoustic guitar: one hand rests over the soundhole while the other presses the strings along the neck. The paint is stacked in blocky, faceted slabs, so the skin and the guitar body look carved from warm light.
Glowing copper, amber and burnt orange stand out against deep blues and near-black shadow. The dark ground and the warm glow give the picture an intimate, late-night feeling of music being played for its own sake.
