The view looks steeply upward from beneath a forest canopy. Autumn treetops in rust, gold and olive crowd all four corners and open onto a wide, cloud-filled sky at the center, with no horizon line.

Soft, diffused daylight glows through the billowing cumulus against a pale blue sky. Light impasto shapes the clouds, drier strokes describe the foliage, and the open sky is blended smoothly. The result is a quiet, nostalgic painting dominated by sky.
