About this work
Thick bands of plaster sweep diagonally across the canvas. Some are smooth and pale, others dragged into taupe and tan, and each is outlined by a crisp raised ridge. Between the bands, rough grainy patches and fine hairline cracks break up the surface.
The palette stays within creams, sands and soft browns, so the picture reads as quiet and tactile. Light skims the ridges and gives the flowing shapes the feel of wind-shaped dunes or a dried riverbed.
