Tightly packed, cream-walled houses with dark gabled roofs and chimneys step up a dark rounded hillside, their windows glowing amber. A small decorated Christmas tree topped with a pale star stands in the village center, flanked by snow-laden white pines, while fine snowfall drifts through the night.

Dark pine boughs frame the top corners, and sweeping wires hung with small glowing bulbs curve across the blue-grey sky. Loose dry-brush strokes, chalky highlights and gentle canvas grain give the scene a naive, storybook feel, lit only by warm window glow and string lights.
