About this work
Three full-figure skeletons run and dance in profile across a wide page, evenly spaced in a horizontal row with their arms raised and reaching toward one another. Ribs, spines and limb bones are drawn in careful anatomical detail, and small five-pointed black stars scatter through the open space around them above a loosely sketched ground line that suggests motion and dust.
Fine stippling shades the bone contours and joints in delicate hand-drawn linework. The aged parchment-cream surface carries faint mottling, foxing spots and subtle staining, giving the sheet the worn feel of an antique anatomical or woodcut print. The effect is playfully macabre and flat, with no cast shadows or depth.
