About this work
A dried wildflower meadow fills the lower two-thirds of the canvas, its small cream and white blossoms clustered low among dark olive and dusty rust-red leaves. Above them, tall umbrella-shaped seed heads, Queen Anne's lace gone to seed, rise on wispy stems into open, sandy negative space.
The light is soft and hazy, giving the background a faded, dusty glow. Thick dabs of paint form the flower clusters while thinner, drier strokes sketch the airy stems, with visible canvas grain throughout. The mood is rustic, nostalgic and quietly faded.
