About this work
An abstract landscape divided into a quiet, empty upper field and a dense lower band of overlapping rectangular color blocks that suggest distant fields or rooftops. The upper sky fades gently from cream to a faint blush glow.
Palette-knife work leaves thick impasto ridges and flat, troweled patches of ochre, terracotta, umber, sage and olive, with scraped edges where colors meet and canvas grain showing through. Soft haze above and crisper contrast below give the flat, non-representational plane a calm sense of distance.
