A ghost in a draped white sheet stands on an old wooden porch, its black eyeholes staring out as it holds up a small carved pumpkin pail. The jack-o'-lantern glows bright orange, the one strong warm colour in an otherwise grey and cream scene.

Weathered boards, a panelled door and a turned porch post fade into soft mist, and dry leaves lie scattered across the floor. Thick, painterly strokes in the sheet and planks give the scene a nostalgic, storybook feel.
