About this work
The words HOME SPOOKY HOME are stitched in three stacked lines at the center, in blocky capitals made of small X-shaped stitches in dark chocolate-brown thread. Stitched bouquets of daisies and mums in cream and rust, with sage leaves, anchor the top corners. Needle-felted pumpkins in cream and muted terracotta, mixed with more flowers, fill the bottom corners, and a small white ghost with two dot eyes sits centered beneath the text.
The panel is oatmeal linen with its weave showing, framed by a dark plaid fabric mat and an ivory crocheted lace edge. The felted pumpkins and ghost are softly raised against the flatter stitching, and the even, diffused light gives the whole piece a cozy, homespun, gently spooky feel.
