About this work
A tall ghost in a plain white sheet stands at the center of a rafter-framed attic. Its hollow black eyes stare out and both gloved-looking hands are lifted. Around it, grey-blue and burnt-orange pumpkins fill the corners. Open cardboard boxes spill old books, and more volumes lie stacked on the floor and on a shelf at the right.
A small, pale window glows at the back. Cobwebs hang from the beams and a few dust motes drift in the light. The paint is applied thickly, so the sheet looks cracked and creamy against the dark, muted browns and greys. The scene feels spooky but gentle, like a quiet story hidden in a forgotten room.
