Dark midnight blue gives way to dusty navy and faded denim clouds, built up in loose, expressive strokes of thick oil paint. Countless tiny cream stars are scattered across the upper sky, a few of them softly flaring, with a faint hazy band of galaxy glow running through the darkness.

Toward the bottom edge the clouds brighten into chalky blue-grey and a dim, sandy apricot light, as if dawn or moonlight were gathering just beyond the frame. Palette-knife drags and visible canvas grain keep the scene quiet, tactile and contemplative.
