About this work
A single wide ceramic bowl heaped with whole green olives sits slightly low and centered, with two loose olive branches stretching left and right well beyond its rim. A simple painted line marks where the wall meets the tabletop, keeping the view flat and frontal.
Flat shapes of color are given structure by thin, slightly imprecise dark ink-like contours, while dry-brush streaks texture the dusty blue background. A few loose light dabs hint at sheen on the olives, and the soft, even light gives the painting a serene, relaxed, hand-drawn quality.
