About this work
A flowing flock of butterflies in varied sizes gathers toward the left of the wide canvas, their wings angled as if mid-flight and trailing off to the right. Each wing is hand-painted with soft color gradients and fine vein linework, with tiny dark bodies and thread-like antennae.
The palette is muted and airy: blush pink, dusty rose, sage green, butter yellow and dove gray on warm ivory. Watercolor bleeds and delicate pooling at the wing edges, under soft, even light, leave a large expanse of empty cream space that gives the picture a dreamy, gently nostalgic calm.
