A pale, low sun sits on the horizon above a tranquil lake, sending a soft pink-gold reflection down the center of the water. Low mountains rise in the distance, wooded banks frame either side, and a cloud-filled sky spreads overhead.

The foreground is a dense strip of pastel wildflowers, including pink cosmos, lavender blooms and small blue and purple blossoms on tall slender stems. Chunky impasto dabs in the sky and flowers give way to looser, blended strokes in the water and mountains, in a palette of peach, rose, lavender and butter yellow.
