About this work
A Monet-inspired view looks down onto a pond that fills the whole frame, with no horizon, sky or shoreline. Dense clusters of rounded green lily pads and white blossoms gather along the left side and lower-left corner, then thin out into open, softly reflective water with only a few scattered blooms toward the right.
Soft daylight lays horizontal bands of warm gold and cool green-gray across the water, built from loose horizontal brushstrokes. Thick impasto dabs shape the pads and petal highlights, while thinner scumbled strokes carry the water, leaving a serene, meditative surface with no hard edges.
