Snow falls over a busy avenue at dusk. Two yellow taxis in the foreground and a line of others behind them are dusted white, and their warm color stands out against the blue-grey sky. Gas-style lamps and lit shop windows throw amber halos onto the slushy street.

A Gothic cathedral with a pale stone spire stands on the right, and an American flag hangs near an awning marked Plaza on the left. Pedestrians in dark coats shelter under umbrellas along the sidewalks. The paint is thick and buttery, with ridged strokes in the snow-streaked road and in the lamplit facades.
