About this work
Clusters of dark evergreen pines stand on a snowy ridge, a taller group on a rise right of center and a smaller pair in the middle distance at left, leaving the left third and the sky open and quiet. Snow falls as soft white flecks of varying size across the sky and hills, and a few dry grasses and reeds poke through the snow in the foreground.
Soft, diffused overcast light carries a faint warm peach glow along the horizon, suggesting dusk or dawn. Layered ridgelines recede in hazy olive, sand and ivory tones, painted with fine canvas-grain texture and a matte finish with no hard edges.
