A chunky impasto street scene in which every roof, snowdrift and snowflake is built from thick ridges of paint. Red, slate-blue, cream and brown townhouses stand shoulder to shoulder, their windows lit by tiny candle flames, with small shopfronts and a wreath on the red house's door.

Dark green firs rise between the buildings, bicycles lean against the facades and a few figures stand on the snowy pavement beneath a dusty blue sky dotted with big white flakes. The palette-knife texture gives the scene a handmade, storybook warmth.
