About this work
Two casement windows swing open to frame a spring beech wood. A gnarled, moss-streaked oak stands at the left, and its branches spread into a canopy of bright, translucent leaves.
Bluebells flood the forest floor in violet and cobalt, and a narrow stream curves through them toward the viewer, catching glints of sky. Thick, sculpted brushstrokes build the foliage and flowers, and the light filters down in yellow-green shafts.
