About this work
Books of every size fill the frame, stacked upright, leaning and lying flat, each spine a small pane of mottled glass in teal, burgundy, amber and plum. Dark leading traces every edge, so the whole shelf reads like a church window made of a library.
Hydrangea heads in dusty blue, rust orange and violet sit among the volumes, with green leaves tucked between them. The glass has a worn, speckled texture, and the deep shadows around the colour give the scene a quiet, candlelit feel.
