About this work
Six ripe lemons sit on a rumpled cloth in a pool of window light, their skins catching warm highlights and casting soft brown shadows. Beside them, a cream-glazed vase holds golden blooms and pale roses among grey-green leaves.
The brushwork is thick and buttery, especially across the cloth and the pale window, where strokes of cream and white stand in for glare. The palette stays in warm ochres, creams and soft greys, so the room feels quiet and calm.
