About this work
Three simple, friendly ghosts in classic bedsheet silhouettes hover in a loose horizontal row across a large, empty dark field. Each has a rounded head, two small oval black eyes and no mouth, and each strikes a different pose: one leans with an arm reaching forward, one stretches both arms out to the sides, and one reaches out to the left. Their wispy, fringed hems trail off like soft strokes of chalk.
The ghosts seem to glow softly from their own pale, chalky mass against the dark, with feathered, dusty edges and a faint scatter of white specks like chalk dust. Layered, smudged strokes build a granular, matte surface with the tooth of the paper showing through, for a quietly spooky, whimsical and vintage feel.
