A tall Christmas tree stands at the center of a snowy square. It is hung with baubles and small warm lights, with a star at the top. Figures in long dark coats and hats cross the fresh snow, and street lamps and lit windows glow amber against the brown buildings.

In the distance a tower rises out of a blue-grey haze, and snowflakes drift through the dusk. The loose, thick brushwork softens the edges and gives the street an atmospheric, impressionist look.
