An elderly witch with long silver-grey hair and a wide grin streaks diagonally across a deep navy sky on a straw broom, in an orange-striped black hat with streaming ribbons. A giant jack-o'-lantern with a rolling cartoon eye, red nose and big square teeth is mounted on the broom handle, with green vines for reins, and a black cat with glowing yellow eyes stands arched on the bristles. A smiling crescent moon with a human face looks on from the upper right.

Below, an autumn field of pumpkins and golden corn shocks meets a dark treeline under small violet-grey clouds and stars. Warm moonlit glow, dabbed impasto brushwork and a softly aged, dusty finish give this folk-illustration scene a playful, funny-spooky charm.
