About this work
A single American flag ripples in the wind on a slender pole. Behind it the sky is a wash of periwinkle blue and lavender, with creamy clouds that glow with the last warm light of the day.
Tufts of tall grass rise along the bottom edge. Thick, directional brushstrokes shape the clouds and the folds of the flag, which makes the scene feel breezy, calm and quietly proud.
