Two wooden shelves are packed with corked glass bottles. Their handwritten labels read Belladonna, Mandrake, Nightshade and Wolf's Bane. Bundles of lavender, rosemary and thistle hang or lie among the jars, and thin smoke drifts up from the candles.

On the lower shelf, a stack of leather-bound books titled Grimoire of Shadows and Alchemical Formulae sits beside a brass mortar, a ladle, a small knife and a rolled scroll. Bird, cat and horned skulls add a macabre note. Warm candlelight picks out the glass and brass against a deep, dark background in a richly detailed painted still life.
