Blue-grey mountains sit in the middle of the picture under a sky of swirled white and pale blue. Curving rust-brown trunks and branches arch in from both sides like a frame.

The whole scene is built from broad, visible strokes of sage green, ochre, terracotta and teal, applied over an unpainted tan ground that shows through along the edges. Forms are suggested rather than described, so the landscape reads as rhythm and colour.
