A stone terrace looks out over a calm bay as the sun sinks into a haze of amber cloud. Terracotta rooftops and a twin-towered church step down toward the water, where a few small boats rest on a surface streaked with gold and turquoise.

A lemon tree heavy with fruit leans in from the right, and pots and bushes of pink and orange blossoms crowd the corners. The paint is laid on thick and buttery, so the stone wall, the flowers and the shimmering water all catch the light in raised ridges of colour.
