About this work
Large overlapping organic shapes of color fill the entire canvas, some bleeding off the edges, with no horizon and no single focal point. The palette runs through warm ivory, burnt orange, rust brown, muted olive, dusty blush and mauve, sandy peach and near-black espresso. A single diagonal cream ribbon stroke cuts across the upper right to add movement.
The light is soft and even, with no shadows beyond the paint's own texture. Brushwork is loose and confident, with some soft-edged transitions blended together and other areas left as distinct impasto strokes. Palette-knife and brush marks leave thick ridges that catch the light on a matte-to-satin surface.
