About this work
A small white pumpkin, orange pumpkins, an acorn squash, a butternut squash, a crookneck squash and an onion squash are grouped tightly in the lower center, with loose dried leaves at the base. The forms overlap on a single shallow plane in a flat, frontal view.
The picture is deliberately unfinished: underdrawing pencil lines remain visible and patches of raw, unprimed linen are left bare at the edges. Soft, diffused light casts gentle shadows beneath the forms, and dry-brush, scumbled strokes show the woven canvas grain, lending an understated, artisanal feel.
