About this work
A quiet New England village street settles into an autumn evening. A curving dirt road scattered with fallen leaves leads toward four colonial clapboard houses with glowing windows, past a white split-rail fence, a dry-stone wall and small pumpkins by a porch.
Two large trees in orange, crimson and gold arch over the scene, with swags of warm bulb lights strung between them and two vintage lanterns casting soft golden halos against a deep twilight sky. Dabbed brushwork in the foliage and softly blocked shapes in the houses give it a nostalgic, storybook warmth.
