Seen from behind, a witch in a wide-brimmed hat and flowing cloak sits in a wildflower meadow with a black cat beside her, both softly silhouetted against the glowing sky. A carved jack-o'-lantern rests in the grass, and a rustic wooden fence and drifts of small white and orange flowers lead the eye toward a large full moon rising over a forested valley.

Warm backlight glows through the haze at the horizon, washing the dusk in harvest gold, peach and dusty lavender with no harsh shadows. Gold and orange autumn trees frame both sides; the sky and distant trees are blended impressionistically, while thick, directional impasto strokes build the foliage and meadow.
