About this work
A long-haired black cat with green eyes perches on a rustic wooden windowsill at night, seen from behind and slightly to the side as it looks up through multi-pane windows. Beyond the glass, a large pale full moon glows through soft haze, with a loose flock of small bats silhouetted against it and a faint misty treeline in the distance.
Soft, diffused moonlight rim-lights the cat's fur and spills warm patches across the sill, while the rest of the room stays low and hushed. The oil paint is worked on visible canvas grain, with loose, expressive strokes in the wood and softer blended strokes building the fur.
