About this work
A symmetrical yet organic still life centers on a ceramic vase patterned with horizontal stripes and teardrop motifs. From it, stylized black daisy-like flowers, pointed green leaves and stems sprawl outward to fill the frame.
The bold, flat black blooms stand out sharply against the soft pastel green background. Color is laid down in flat fills with graphic outlines and layered paint edges, in a matte gouache- or acrylic-like finish with visible, organic brushstrokes.
