About this work
A small cream-walled cottage with a blue-grey slate roof sits low in a folded Breton valley, half hidden by dark green shrubs. Slender bare trunks in dusty lilac line the left edge, and a worn earth path winds down the foreground through drifts of rust-orange bracken.
Terraced green pastures climb to a ridge crowned by a tiny hamlet under a pale, hazy sky. Short, loaded brushstrokes in broken color give the hillsides a shimmering, impressionist texture, and the soft autumn light keeps the mood quiet, warm and nostalgic.
