A small anthropomorphic mouse in a hooded red cloak with green lining stands on its hind legs, gazing up at a lit lantern that hangs from an ornate wrought-iron bracket. Beside it rises a small pine decorated with warm fairy lights and red berry ornaments, with a cluster of wrapped presents in muted green, gold and red at its base.

Lantern light spills softly over the tree and the mouse's face, fading into a cool, hazy background. The storybook-like composition builds depth through layered brushwork rather than strict perspective.

Visible impasto and palette-knife texture run through the background and the tree's needles.
