A line of cowboys in wide-brimmed hats rides along a dirt track through a high mountain valley. Their brown horses carry coiled ropes at the saddle. Soft blue ridges recede behind stands of dark evergreens.

Loose, visible brushwork gives the golden grass, grey-green sage and scattered white wildflowers a textured, lived-in feel. Heavy clouds in pearl and slate grey keep the mood calm and quietly expansive.
