About this work
A single robed woman stands slightly left of center, facing the viewer in three-quarter length. She wears a wide woven straw sun hat over a cream headscarf and a long robe striped in alternating dusty terracotta-orange and cream bands. A tall, spiky agave rises in the left foreground beside a low sandstone wall and scattered dusty-olive shrubs.
Behind her the scene stacks into flat, folk-art planes: ochre and rust mountains fading into hazy taupe ridges, a pale inlet of water catching soft light, and a flat, matte gold sun in a parchment-cream sky. The paint is applied in visible brushstrokes with a matte, slightly chalky finish and gentle edges, giving the hazy daylight a sun-baked, timeless stillness.
