A frog relaxes in a clawfoot bathtub heaped with soft, mounded bubbles, a white towel wrapped turban-style around its head as it holds a small red book open and reads. A rubber duck floats in the bubbles beside it, while a leafy potted plant and a stack of folded towels sit close to the tub.

Everything is built from short, chunky dabs of heavy-body paint, from the tile grout to the bubbles, fur and foliage, which gives the scene a tactile, hand-painted storybook feel. Soft, even daylight settles over warm ochre tiles, a pale blue-gray floor and a sheer curtain, and the gentle humor of the moment feels quietly nostalgic.
