A large full moon sits at the center of a symmetrical composition, framed by gnarled, leafy branches that arch inward from both upper corners. Several small bats cross its glow in silhouette, and a hazy autumn forest lies behind.

The moon acts as a strong backlight, radiating warm amber light outward before it fades to cool shadow at the edges. Heavy palette-knife work builds the glow and the clusters of autumn leaves, while a rougher, scumbled texture marks the shadowed foliage below, for a spooky, atmospheric mood.
