Two white swans face each other, their long necks and beaks meeting to form a heart. A deep red ribbon tied in a bow joins them at the chest, its ends trailing across the bottom of the canvas.

The paint is laid on thick with a palette knife. Ridges of cream and ivory build up the feathers, and scraped, patchy strokes of dusty rose fill the background. The raised texture and the single note of crimson give the pairing a tender, tactile warmth.
