About this work
Hearts of different sizes are pressed into thick paint and scattered over a surface of cream, peach and pale pink. Some are deep crimson, some dusty rose, and a few are ivory and barely stand out from the ground. Each one keeps the ridges and swirls of the knife that made it.
Broad smears of red and pink run between the hearts. The play of glossy ridges and soft, creamy passages is the main interest of the picture, and the mood is romantic and playful.
