Soft snow falls over an old European square. Warm lamplight glows in the windows and in the strings of lights along the bare trees, and a cluster of skaters moves across a small rink at the centre.

The palette is muted sepia, cream and umber, with small bursts of amber from the street lamps and shopfronts. Fine, textured brushwork gives the stone facades and the cobbles a worn, storybook feel, and the scene feels hushed and nostalgic.
