A hare is caught at full stretch, front and hind legs extended, racing across a muted green meadow. Its coat is built from chunky, angular dabs of umber, sienna and ochre that catch the light like carved facets.

The field behind it dissolves into broad, horizontal sweeps of olive and sage under a pale grey sky. Dry golden grasses in the foreground are scraped in with quick vertical strokes, so the whole scene feels like heavy paint dragged across canvas.
