About this work
The whole canvas is fractured into interlocking triangular and wedge-shaped planes of color, with no single focal point and no empty ground. Deep forest green, jewel red, burnt orange, slate blue and amethyst meet orchid pink, olive and mustard gold, and the angular forms loosely suggest an abstracted figure.
Flat, even color fields replace modeled light, with dark outlines separating many of the planes. Visible directional strokes and soft edges at close range give the geometric structure a hand-painted, oil-or-pastel warmth.
