About this work
A white ceramic pitcher holds a loose bouquet of tiny white flowers and fine green sprigs. Whole and halved lemons sit around it on a rumpled white cloth on a rustic wooden table. Their bright yellow is the sharpest color in an otherwise soft, creamy scene.
To the left, a window with flaking paint opens onto a blurred green garden. Light slides over the cracked plaster wall and the worn sill. Thick, buttery brushwork gives the linen and the pitcher a sculpted look.
