About this work
A loose diagonal cluster of large wildflowers and poppies sweeps across the wide composition, converging toward the lower left. Trailing green stems and leaves link the blooms, and one drooping, not-yet-open bud rests among the open flowers.
Thick palette-knife strokes build the petals into near-sculptural relief, catching soft, diffused light and casting gentle shadows. Dusty lavender, rose pink, powder blue, butter yellow and terracotta sit against a cracked, troweled plaster-like ground, with generous quiet space around the bouquet. The faded palette gives the scene a serene, nostalgic feel.
