About this work
Large, loosely printed blossoms and angular leaf shapes spread edge to edge, with no horizon and no single focal point. Each flower is a dark olive-brown silhouette with ragged, dry-brush petal edges and a small scalloped centre knocked out in the ground colour.
The palette stays tone on tone: dusty mocha brown behind deep, slightly faded olive umber. A fine speckled wear and soft mottling give the surface the feel of an aged block print on paper or linen, quiet, earthy and gently moody.
