About this work
Overlapping feathery leaves fill the whole canvas, shifting from creamy ivory and honey gold through soft peach and dusty coral to deep burnt orange. A gentle golden light glows from the upper right, melting the colors into one another.
The leaves are built from thick, ridged palette-knife strokes in oil paint, with the faint weave of linen canvas showing through thinner passages. The result is an abstracted, tactile study of fall foliage that feels warm, calm and nostalgic.
